FOA CFOT — Certified Fiber Optic Technician
Cable preparation and termination, fusion splicing, optical link testing and verification.
ITPERKOWSKI is my personal brand and a portfolio of hands-on IT infrastructure projects — networking, servers, virtualisation and Azure. I have 14+ years of commercial IT experience, including Orange. I am looking for a role in infrastructure, systems or cloud in the Netherlands.
01 — About
I gained my experience in commercial IT — in enterprise systems monitoring at Orange, administration, networking and databases. From November 2015 to March 2023 I worked outside the IT industry. Since 2023 I have been updating my knowledge in IT service management, information security and monitoring (ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000-1, ISO/IEC 27001, Zabbix).
I work on running infrastructure: in my own multi-site lab and in Azure environments. I automate deployments, monitor systems and regularly test restores from backups. Every project described on this site is one I have deployed myself.

Skills built and proven on running environments.
From design, through automation and failure testing, to recovery and documentation.
I clearly distinguish hands-on lab experience from commercial production experience.
02 — Skills
Cable preparation and termination, fusion splicing, optical link testing and verification.
Hands-on Azure environments built as code. Hybrid connectivity between the cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
Systems
Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, IIS (commercial experience) — and Linux administration.
Virtualization
Virtualization clusters and ZFS-based storage.
Networking
Firewalls, segmentation, VPN. Structured cabling, copper and fibre (splicing, testing — FOA).
Automation
Repeatable system configuration. Previously task automation with PowerShell.
Backup & DR
A backup is only half the job — I regularly test restores and recovery procedures.
Monitoring
Zabbix and Grafana today. In enterprise: Nagios and BMC Patrol.
Security & Logging
Centralized logging, system hardening and security monitoring. EITCA/IS programme.
Validation & CI
Infrastructure tested automatically and versioned in Git.
Documentation
Architecture decisions, runbooks and recovery procedures.
Service management & security
I relate projects from my homelab to the ITIL (Version 5) lifecycle and to the requirements of ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 and ISO/IEC 27001:2022. This is hands-on practice, not a certified management system.
Achieved
In preparation
My lab → ISO/IEC 27001:2022, Annex A → ITIL (Version 5)
| Lab component | Control (Annex A) | ITIL activity |
|---|---|---|
| Terraform and Ansible, configurations versioned in Git | 8.9 Configuration management | Build |
| Windows Server and Linux hardening | 8.9 Configuration management | Build |
| Changes via Git, validated in GitHub Actions (pytest, Testinfra) | 8.32 Change management | Transition |
| OPNsense, VLAN segmentation, multi-site routing | 8.20 Networks security | Design, Build |
| WireGuard tunnels between sites | 8.24 Use of cryptography | Build |
| Azure environments as code | 5.23 Information security for use of cloud services | Acquire, Build |
| Monitoring with Zabbix and Grafana | 8.16 Monitoring activities · 8.6 Capacity management | Operate |
| Centralised logging | 8.15 Logging | Operate, Support |
| Proxmox Backup Server and regular restore tests | 8.13 Information backup | Operate, Support |
| ADRs, runbooks and DR procedures | 5.37 Documented operating procedures | Support |
Indicative mapping: it shows which controls I practise in the lab. It is not a Statement of Applicability (SoA) or a conformity assessment.
ISO/IEC 27001:2022 · Information Security Management
Risk-based · continuous
Define the scope, carry out risk assessment, select and operate relevant controls, then review their effectiveness and improve the security posture.
Automation, documentation and continual improvement support the work throughout the lifecycle.
03 — ITPERKOWSKI Lab
The lab brings together networking, servers, virtualisation and Azure services. I use it to automate deployments, monitor infrastructure and test backups and recovery.
